Weekend Box-Office: TRANSCENDENCE, HEAVEN IS FOR REAL, A HAUNTED HOUSE 2

The movie with the most hype, "Transcendence", failed to make much of an impression on audiences this past weekend. The Johnny Depp sci-fi thriller tanked with $11 million and landed in fourth place in its first three days, surpassed by a still strong "Captain America: The Winter Soldier", "Rio 2", and, surprisingly, the new drama "Heaven is for Real". The latter is based on true-story near-death experience and it stars Greg Kinnear. This is the fourth faith-based film to receive strong support from audiences, following "God's Not Dead", "Son of God" and "Noah". The Marlon Wayans comedy "A Haunted House 2" also disappointed with a $9 million opening weekend performance which ranked the movie fifth.

More box-office details and the complete top 10, after the jump.
